Spanish Au Pair Program Overview:
As an au pair in France, you’ll participate in a cultural exchange program that enhances your French language skills while experiencing authentic French family life. The program balances childcare responsibilities with opportunities for personal growth and cultural discovery, embodying the true spirit of the French au pair experience.

Legal Requirements and Visa Information:

For non-EU nationals, obtaining a long-stay visa (visa long séjour) is mandatory before arriving in France. The visa application process requires several essential documents, including a valid passport, completed application form, and proof of accommodation which your host family will provide. You’ll also need to present a signed au pair contract, proof of enrollment in a French language course, and evidence of sufficient financial means. While EU nationals don’t need a visa, they should register with local authorities upon arrival. The French au pair program has specific age requirements, accepting participants between 18-30 years old, and basic French language knowledge is necessary. The maximum duration of stay as an au pair in France is 12 months.

Salary Structure and Benefits:

Au pairs in France receive a monthly pocket money of at least €320, along with comprehensive accommodation arrangements including a private bedroom and full board with three meals provided daily. Working conditions are strictly regulated, with childcare duties limited to a maximum of 25 hours per week, and au pairs are entitled to at least one and a half days off weekly. For long-term placements, you’ll receive five weeks of paid holiday per year. The program includes several additional benefits to enhance your experience. Your host family will cover the cost of French language courses, and you’ll receive health insurance coverage. Many au pairs also receive subsidized public transportation. Beyond these practical benefits, you’ll have the invaluable opportunity to fully integrate into French family life, providing an immersive environment to improve your French language skills and cultural understanding.
